Built in 1585, the Neubau is the first stone building in Strasbourg. Until 1779, it was used as a "congress palace": a shopping mall, a place for exchanges between guilds and public authorities, a place for merchants and fairground vendors. In 1781, it became the Town Hall, for a short time. It was ransacked during the Revolution and sold to private individuals. Acquired in 1806 by the Chamber of Commerce of Strasbourg to establish the consular hotel, the building returns to its original purpose, serving the merchant sphere. Since 2016, it is the headquarters of the CCI Alsace Eurométropole. The rental of conference spaces is part of the history of the building, since its birth.
