Business events: what to do in Strasbourg if it’s raining?

Like a lot of places, the weather in Strasbourg can sometimes be unpredictable. While rain is one of the most dreaded surprises for business-event organisers, there are plenty of ways to work around it. Here are some activity ideas to make the most of the capital of Alsace and build team unity, all while staying dry!

Explore Strasbourg’s European side

As the European capital, Strasbourg is home to several major institutions, including the European Parliament, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Council of Europe.

Why not take advantage of a rainy day to take your team to the European parliament? It’s open year-round and free of charge to visitors with an ID. The tour includes the hemicycle where the members of the European Parliament sit, as well as the Simone Veil Parliamentarium and various exhibitions. A multimedia guide available in 24 languages gives more details about the European Union.

Spark curiosity

Between two meetings, Strasbourg invites business travelers to look up at the stars or take a dive into a world of animals. You’ll find both at the University of Strasbourg’s Jardin des Sciences. In its Planetarium, under a 15-meter-wide dome, a 360° show takes you on a journey exploring planets, stars, and galaxies.

The Jardin des Sciences also houses the Zoological Museum, reopened in September 2025 after six years of renovations. It features one of the oldest and largest collections in Europe, exploring the evolution of humanity in relation to the animal kingdom.

Activities for wine and food lovers

Alsace is a gourmet region, perfect for welcoming and delicious experiences during your business events. On a rainy day, stop in for a visit at the historic wine cellar of the Strasbourg Hospices where wine has been made since 1395. The site was almost lost to history. It was saved in 1997 by about thirty Alsatian wineries in partnership with Strasbourg’s Hôpital Civil. Winegrowers still age their wines on site in old oak barrels. The cellar also holds the oldest wine in the world still kept in a barrel, dating back to 1472!

Wine grapes also take centre stage at the Comptoir des Vignerons Alsaciens. Visit the shop on Place Gutenberg in the city centre, with 375 different Alsace wines from 75 passionate independent winemakers. Book ahead for a private tasting for up to 40 people.

Looking for a gourmet team building activity? Cuisine Aptitude offers cooking workshops where teams learn to prepare dishes and enjoy them together afterward!

Discover Strasbourg on a sightseeing boat

For another rainy-day idea, visit Strasbourg from the comfort of a sightseeing boat on a guided cruise. Batorama’s fleet includes several covered boats as well as “Le Strasbourg”, the first zero emission boat designed in France, inaugurated in September 2025. The vessel is equipped with digital tablets for an interactive and educational outing, as well as a retractable roof, perfect for enjoying the sunshine if the weather clears up during the cruise!

And more…

Strasbourg is brimming with great places for team building activities, including escape rooms like Little Red Door, Les Secrets du Sablier, and Bomb Squad, a collaborative challenge where participants defuse a bomb and solve challenges before time runs out.
